At Whitecote Primary School our curriculum:

 

  • is engaging and meaningful so that children develop a love of learning

 

  • offers opportunities to all children to enjoy their learning through practical experiences both in and out of school

 

  • is broad and balanced with a clear progression of skills

 

  • develops skills in children, which encourage them to question and inspire them to find their own voice to have a positive impact on their world

Early Years Foundation Stage ( Little Doves, Nursery and Reception)

 

In the Foundation Stage children learn foundation skills in three prime areas, which include:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development 
  • Physical Development 
  • Communication and Language 

 

And four specific areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive Arts and Design

The National Curriculum (Year 1-6)

 

We follow the National Curriculum which includes three core subjects:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science

 

There are nine foundation subjects:

 
  • Art and Design
  • Citizenship 
  • Computing 
  • Design and Technology 
  • Languages (Spanish)
  • Geography
  • History
  • Music 
  • Physical Education 

 

We also deliver a high quality Religious Education curriculum following the Leeds Agreed Syllabus.
