Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the death of Ms Mel Scaife, our Office Administrator, who passed away over the weekend after a brave battle with cancer.
As you will know, she was not only an important member of our office team, but played a pivotal role in the life of the school. She loved everything that was wonderful about life: her family, her friends, Disney Land, Christmas, dancing and George Michael. She was brave, practical, and her ability to see the positive side of any situation made her an inspirational lady who will stay with us forever.
Obviously the staff are devastated, and we would ask you to please bear with us as we come to terms with the news.
We have not told the children, as we are aware that some families prefer to explain these situations in different ways, but will be holding a special assembly for them later on in the week to celebrate Ms Scaife’s life.
Ms Scaife’s funeral will be held on Monday 9th October, and I have taken the decision to close the school in order to give everyone, both staff and the community, the opportunity to celebrate Mel’s life. This day will take the place of the Training Day we had planned for Friday 6th July. I apologise for the short notice and hope it doesn’t cause too much inconvenience, but I feel that it is only right that we do so.
Thank you for your consideration at this time,
