Year 2

Hello and welcome to the year 2 web page!

Woodland Adventure

In January Year 2 visited Ledston Estate for a Woodland Adventure day linked to our topic. We had lots of fun building dens, making habitat trails for woodland creatures, creating pictures in the trees and making woodland art based on our Artist focus of Andy Goldsworthy. The children thoroughly enjoyed their day at the farm, even if it was a bit chilly for 2 Oak!

Outdoor PE is on a Wednesday afternoon. Children will need their outdoor PE kit which consists of a plain white t-shirt, plain black or grey tracksuit bottoms, plain grey or black jacket and trainers. Indoor PE is on a Monday afternoon. Children will need a plain white t-shirt and plain black shorts. Please leave your full PE kit in school when possible and label up all items of clothing with your child's name.

Please read with your child at least twice a week and write in their reading diary. When reading with your child to help them develop a deeper understanding of the text, ask them questions throughout or at the end about what they have read and discuss the meanings of words. Children need to read at least once a week to remain on Aspire.

Homework will be set every Friday. Your child will receive a piece of English or Reading, Maths and spellings. Maths and English homework need to be returned to school by the following Friday. Spellings are sent home to aid children learning them and don't need to be returned to school. Children will be tested on the spellings on a Friday morning.
