Year 5

Viking adventures

Year 5 had a serious Viking incident in their classroom! After a Viking artefact was stolen, the children became investigators—interviewing key witnesses and searching for clues. Later, they transformed into crime reporters, producing fabulous newspaper reports about the daring crime. Luckily, the stolen shield has now been found!

Our Year 5 Vikings are ready for battle! We kicked off their new topic with a thrilling Viking Hook Day full of discovery. From decoding ancient runes to a fully immersive Now Press Play session, the children have been exploring the fascinating world of the Vikings.

The Battle of Hastings

Year 5 brought history to life with an exciting reenactment of the Battle of Hastings! Armed with shields and swords, they stepped into the shoes of Saxons and Normans, experiencing the drama and strategy of this pivotal moment in history. It was a thrilling, hands-on way for the children to deepen their understanding of the past while having lots of fun!

MacBeth Performance- Leeds Playhouse

The children brought history and literature to life with their incredible performance of Macbeth at Leeds Playhouse. As part of their history learning, the children explored life in Tudor England and the world of Shakespeare before taking to the stage to perform his famous tragedy. Through acting, staging, and storytelling, they deepened their understanding of the historical context, language, and timeless themes of ambition and power — all while developing confidence and teamwork.
